It's All About Me!

Musings by Donna #27 SKYPEing at Christmas

It was a quiet Christmas this year. David and I decided not to fight the traveling scene. Though it would have been fun to go to Kiersten’s house in Taos, we just didn’t relish packing our bags again. We stayed home.

With no push to get up early, no alarms were set and we let the minutes tick by. Then the phone rang! It was Jared. “Get on SKYPE,” he said. I did. Then I set my computer on the floor and David and I gathered around it.

There, on my computer screen, were Kiersten, Falko, and Jared sipping their coffee. Treska and Kaya were lolling on the couch in their pjs in front of the brightly, lit Christmas tree draped in gumdrop garlands. Even Miso and Ernie, their two furry pets, wandered though this Christmas scene. And though we never went through security or were subjected to a body scan, though we never traveled the three hours through the beautiful vistas of the Sangre de Christo Mountains, we were in our virtual Taos. For three hours I sat on the floor oohing and ahhing and adding my random comments about the day … all the while crafting my newest necklace to add to my jewelry collection.

Kiersten, said, “It’s like you and Dad were really with us, Mom.” And … I guess we were.

(Picture compliments of ME through my computer.)
