It's All About Me!

On School #4 Not For Sale

Disclaimer: The name in this musing is changed to protect the “infamous.”

Sarit stood at my desk for Any Anything time. That’s when the kids crowd me to give me “love” notes from their moms, pass in their behavior books, proudly hand me the pictures they drew of me last night, return sign & return papers, tell me about the fight they had with their brother or sister, or about the soccer goal they missed or didn’t. It’s a taking care of business kind-of-time. They basically give me any anything that they need to give to me before we start our day. Sarit returned her report card.

As she turned to leave, I noticed a tag hanging from her shirt from a little plastic thingee. I looked at it. $26.00 it read. I looked at Sarit and asked her is she was for sale. She looked perplexed. Then I showed her the tag . “Look! It says you cost $26.00. Can I buy you?” She giggled. I wrote a note to her mother on the tag.

It read,

Dear Sarit‘s Mother. Is Sarit for sale? She’s worth a LOT more than twenty-six dollars.

Sincerely, Sarit‘s teacher, Mrs. Figurski

Sarit came to my desk the next day at Any Anything time to tell me her mother laughed. As she turned to go back to her desk, I noticed that she was wearing another new shirt. This time there was no tag, but the little plastic thingee was still attached. I guess Sarit is no longer on the market.
